Today it is my pleasure to welcome author Ellen W. Martin and her suspense/thriller novel, Into the Devil’s Den – Snared by Their Own Lies.
Author’s description
For twenty-years Sam Steele lived with a lie gnawing at his conscience — for twenty-years his only child believed her mother was dead. Without warning his ex-wife springs from the ashes of the past and reaches out to him in his capacity as a veteran Immigration Custom Enforcement agent.
When Sam’s ex dumps a father’s living nightmare into his lap, he must choose between doing his duty as a law enforcer and jeopardizing his cherished relationship with his daughter. Circumstances beyond his control leave him no choice. Before he can seek forgiveness, Terri Anne disappears. Sam neglects his duties as an ICE agent and becomes obsessed in finding her. In the wake of his search he unravels a trail of murder, illegal Green Card marriages, and unveils a jihadist’s plot to launch a terror attack on American soil.
INTO THE DEVIL’S DEN – SNARED BY THEIR OWN LIES weaves a tangled tale of suspense, murder, and treachery. Each twisted circumstance is triggered by that one well-intended lie Sam Steele told his child — a lie that mushrooms into several more falsehoods and leaves multiple lives dangling by a single thread. The daunting task of facing the truth and the race against time pushes ICE agent Sam Steele’s integrity to the limit.
About the Author
A proud wife of a retired Air Force officer, mother of one son and grandparent of three grandchildren, Ellen, didn’t start writing until retirement years, and even then she considered writing a hobby. In 2019 she published a historical fiction, SONS OF CUBA, a two book series. INTO THE DEVILS DEN is her third publication. During the early months while COVID-19 was wreaking havoc through the nation and around the world, she took the opportunity to write another suspense thriller entitled SHATTERED LOYALTIES which she hopes will be published and released sometime in 2021.

Terri Anne paced back and forth in front of the smoldering fireplace. She glanced up at the mangy moose head hanging over the stone fireplace. “Rashid’s been gone for two days. Where could he be?” she asked the long nose trophy. Dark, glassy eyes stared straight ahead.
She shook her head, “As usual, you’re no help.”
Terri Anne plopped down on the sofa, but she was too anxious to sit still. She stood once again, walked over to the fireplace, picked up the poker, and stabbed at the dying embers. One small flame ignited; a stream of smoke swirled up the chimney.
Terri glared at the moose head one more time, then brushed by the sofa and snatched an Indian-print afghan and wrapped the small blanket around her shoulders. She opened the cabin door for the umpteenth time. Stepping onto the covered porch, she stared toward the dirt road. In the distance maple, oak and hickory trees edged the lone red-clay lane snaking down the hill. Sunlight sparkled through the treetops intensifying the patchwork of orange, red, and yellow leaves that stubbornly clung to their branches.
No dust trail. No rumble from Rashid’s Corvette. Only a woodpecker hammered on the branch of a nearby Georgia Pine.
Terri Anne pressed her forearm against her abdomen trying to ease the massive knot clutching her belly. She was a fugitive. The police were probably combing the country for her right now, she thought. What if Rashid had already been arrested? No, no, he said he knew people who’d help them get out of the country. He told her he would return as soon as the arrangements had been made. He told her she was safe here.
She closed her eyes, chanced a deep breath, held it as long as she could. Why was everything taking so long?
